Dance/movement therapy is a form of therapy that allows you to express, process, and heal through movement. Dance skills are not necessary as we are not focusing on the performance of the movement. Instead, we used breath, gentle movements, grounding techniques and creative expression to help release the “yuck” that your body holds onto.
Not at all! Dance/Movement Therapy is just one tool I offer, and we only use it if it feels right for you. My approach is collaborative, meaning we decide together what supports your goals and comfort level. If movement isn’t your thing, that’s completely okay. We can stick to talk therapy, creative strategies, or whatever helps you feel safe, grounded and understood.
Feeling nervous is completely normal. In fact, most people feel that way at first! You don’t have to show up with everything figured out. My job is to make the process feel safe, supportive, and at your pace. We’ll start wherever you are, take things step by step, and check in along the way. It’s okay to be unsure-your only job is to show up as you are, and we’ll navigate the rest together.
Yes- what you share in therapy is private and protected. I take your confidentiality very seriously. The only times I’m legally required to break confidentiality are if there is a risk of serious harm to you or someone else or if there are concerns about child or elder abuse. If we ever need to discuss a situation like that, I’ll always explain what’s happening and walk through it with you. Otherwise, what you share stays between us.
I work with ages 10+.
Yes. I am in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, and United Health Care. If you have a different provider, you may still be able to use out-of-network benefits and I can provide a superbill for them to reimburse you.
